Many of PMP Aspirant getting to know about this changes now. They feel they are left with very less time in their hand to pass the exam specially looking at the complexity of the PMP Exam.
In my opinion if a PMP Aspirant is serious about getting the PMP Certificate and ready to invent in his/her studies consistently, he/she can pass PMP Exam just in a month. Here I am sharing a plan and some valuable tips to prepare and pass the PMP Exam within a month.
There are four things that are of immense important to pass PMP exam in 1 month.
The top most of them is 100% commitment. Everything is driven by your commitment and if it is lacking, then the goal is a distant dream. If you want to clear the exam in a month, consider this as your top priority. You can postpone any optional thing for a month. Your study is the first thing that you will complete every day.
The second important thing is consistency. Study must be done consistently on a daily basis. Many people spend time on study as they get. Couple of hours on a particular day and then no study for few days and then some hours on another day. This inconsistent behavior does not work especially when time is limited. You must decide and put a certain minimum number of hours every day. If you have more time, you can spend more hours on the study (for example on weekends) but there is no day when you spend less than minimum hours you have decided. Preparing a time table will be of immense help to remain consistent with your studies. I have given one time table below that you may follow.
Third important thing is right resources. You must have quality study material. Do not pick study material randomly from internet. Most of the stuff available on the internet is not of good quality. If you pick it, you may end up wasting your time. Buy books and refer the material that your trainer has suggested. You can also rely on your friends who have tried out the material and found it of quality. Don’t go with Whatsapp style forward material. The friend who is recommending, must have tried the material his own. As such there are many book but any one or two of the following can be referred
- Head First PMP – 4th Edition
- PMP Exam Prep – Rita Mulcahy – 9th Edition

Fourth is your mentor. Have a mentor who can help you understand concepts and clear your confusion. Your trainer could be your mentor or any other experienced person who has experience in guiding professional for PMP Certification. Mentor must be good and experienced guide as he may solve your problems.
If any of the above four things is not there, please find them to target your PMP Exam in 30 days.
If you have all four things above, here is your 30 days plan to pass PMP Exam. I have considered that you have a full time job and therefore may not be able to spend more than 2 to 3 hours a day. You can spend more time on weekend to catch up if you missed out anything any day or clear the exam even faster. You may modify this plan as per your availability and time commitment but remember it is your consistency that will create the magic.
Assumption: Here I am assuming that you have completed your 35 hours of project management training and through this training, you have got an overall idea of all subjects and various project management concepts. Plan to pass PMP Exam in 30 days.
The study plan has four parts. First – review chapter to recollect concepts, second – attempt questions for the chapter you reviewed. Mark those questions where you are doubtful, third – check your answers to identify which questions you answered incorrectly and fourth – refer your study material, your study group or your mentor to clear your doubts and concepts because of which you marked the incorrect answer or you were doubtful. Fourth step is most important and you should put all your efforts to clear your all doubts and understand all the concepts. Second and third step will help you identify gaps (what PMP Exam expects and where you currently stand) and fourth step help you to fill the gap. Filling the gaps is the essence of this plan.

As I said filling the knowledge gap and consistency are the most important aspect of this exercise to pass PMP Exam. The purpose of the whole exercise is to identify knowledge gaps and fill it. The purpose is not to do lots of questions but attempt few quality questions of variety and then focus on filling the knowledge gap. To achieve consistency, it is a good idea to complete daily portion of exercise in the morning itself before leaving to office. If that requires to wake up early, let’s do this for a month. Not a big price to pass PMP Exam within a month.
I am confident that after following this plan consistently, you will also feel confident to attempt it and pass PMP Exam with flying colors.
