I do have required experience but not in initiation process groups, am I eligible for PMP Exam?
It is very difficult for a project manager (or any one) having over 3 years of project management experience and does not have experience in all process groups. You probably may not know that you have experience in all process groups….
Mainly problem comes from Initiation and Closure process groups. Many PMP Aspirants think that if they have not worked in the beginning or end of a project, they don’t have experience in project initiation or closure. Initiation and closing processes (in that sense all the processes) also applicable to phases and iterations. Therefore even though you were never part of any project initiation or closure, you may still have experience in initiation and closure process groups. Even if you were part of only execution stage but you were involved in phase or iteration transition and have participated in phase gates (introspection) meetings, you have experience in initiation and closure processes. Processes used in phase initiation and closure are part of initiation and closure process groups. Because phases (or iterations) go through complete cycle Initiation-Planning-Execution-Monitoring & Control-Closure, people who have participated even in one complete phase from phase initiation to phase closure, have experience in all process groups.
If you have 3 years of experience, it is very likely that you have experience in all process groups.
